What to Expect
Must I Be Completely Undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques give the best results when performed directly on bare skin, and are traditionally performed with the client unclothed. However, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. Feel free to remove your clothing to whatever level of comfort leaves you feeling relaxed. Let your Massage Therapist know if you have any questions or concerns.
For both comfort and modesty, you will be properly draped by towels or sheets during the session, according to whichever part of your body is being massaged at the time. Phone Elena on 0417 559 858 to discuss your preferences.

What to Expect
Will the Practitioner Be Present When I Disrobe?
Your privacy is always maintained. Once your practitioner has explained the massage procedure to you, they will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel, provided especially for you.
After a few minutes, your practitioner will return to the room, adjust
your sheet or towel if necessary, place the pillows to support your head
and feet, and make sure you feel comfortable and relaxed. Let your
practitioner know what makes you feel most comfortable.

What to Expect
Will I Be Covered During the Session?
You will be properly draped at all times with sheets or towels to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered to allow easier access for the practitioner to use whatever massage techniques are most appropriate for that particular area.
You choose which areas of the body you wish to have concentrated on, or avoided, keeping in mind that we provide a strictly therapeutic (not sexual) massage.
If you prefer, feel free to bring your own towel, making sure it is large enough to cover your whole body. Let your practitioner know if you have any concerns or preferences.

What Parts of My Body Will Be Massaged?
Your session includes a brief consultation to identify your specific needs. Typically a full body session includes massage on your back, arms, legs, feet, toes, hands, fingers, chest, stomach, head, face, neck and shoulders. You choose which areas you want concentrated on, or avoided, keeping in mind we provide strictly therapeutic (not sexual) massage.
This may vary from session to session, depending on your needs and on your mood. You may want relief from aches and pains, release of stress and anxiety, or just an hour of blissful time away from it all.
You will not be massaged on or near your genitals (male or female) or breasts (female). A Sensory Experience massage is safe, therapeutic touch, without judgement or criticism, within set sexual boundaries. Let us know if you have any concerns.

What to Expect
What Will the Massage or Bodywork Feel Like?
How would you like to feel? Your desired outcome may vary each session. Your massages may feel nurturing, soothing and rejuvenating as your muscles are stretched, kneaded and stroked to relax tension and alleviate soreness. Or you may feel totally pampered as the massage experience awakens the senses. Or you may feel invigorated and re-energised.
A light oil or lotion is used to massage your muscles without causing friction to the skin, adding a luxurious and nurturing feel to the massage, helping to hydrate and soften your skin. Mixed with certain essential oils like lavender, the effect can be even more calming or refreshing to both your mind and body. Most people feel increased energy, heightened awareness and greater productivity which lasts for days.
Phone Elena on 0417 559 858 to discuss your expectations.

Are There Different Kinds of Massage and Bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork, with various techniques to achieve different results. Generally, clinical or remedial massage is used to work on specific areas of recent injury or chronic pain. Whereas therapeutic or relaxation massage tends to cover larger areas of the body to elicit a greater body relaxation response.
Sensory Experience massages are therapeutic full body treatments, offered as a stress relief and management program, awakening the body's sensory network to prevent and alleviate the buildup of anxiety, pressure, tension, aches and pains of mind, body - and subsequently - the soul.

What to Expect
How Long Will the Session Last?
A full body massage deserves at least an hour to restore peace to your mind and relax your body from head to toe. Half an hour only allows time for a partial massage: for the neck and shoulders, the back, or the legs and feet.
Most people prefer an hour or more (1.5 hrs is just right!) to relieve mental tension, release emotional stress and allow the body to relish the nurturing sense of touch, allowing the massage techniques enough time to achieve the best results - a state of bliss that lasts and lasts. Imagine how great you'll feel, more often, when you schedule a regular massage. Generally, your body will tell you when you're due for another session by feeling tight, stressed, tired and out of sorts. Phone Elena on 0417 559 858 to book whenever you want, as often as you like.

How Many Treatments are Required?
Your reason for booking a massage (relief from aches and pains or relaxation and pampering) may determine whether you need treatment on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Starting with one massage per week for the first three weeks is ideal to start your body on a simple stress relief program. Monthly sessions after that will help your body run smoothly, ensuring your ability to manage stress levels and let you cope with the demands and pressures of family, career and modern lifestyle.
Your body will let you know when it's time to book with signs of tiredness, irritability, anxiety, muscular tension, aches and pains. A little regular nurturing from your therapist can leave you feeling happier, content and "human" again, ready to cope with anything. Body telling you something? Time to re-charge with a massage! Phone Elena on 0417 559 858 to book a session soon. << Previous | Back to menu | Next >>
What to Expect
What Will be Discussed?
At Sensory Experience, we treat people, not bodies. That's why we will first discuss your condition, sources of stress and what you wish to achieve from the session. We may discuss what you can do at home or work to improve your situation, such as stretch exercises or changes to your office setup. This process doesn't take long and is included in your session, ensuring the best and longest lasting results for your health and wellbeing.
As the strictest confidentiality will be observed, feel free to express and discuss your personal issues or any matters of a sensitive nature that may be concerning you. Remember, our aim is not to stress you out or cause you pain. We're here to help you relax, release your stresses, balance the disharmony in your body and leave you feeling on top of the world again. Phone Elena on 0417 559 858 to discuss your next session. << Previous | Back to menu | Next >>
What to Expect
What Should I Do During the Massage or Bodywork Session?
Your practitioner will guide you through the massage procedure, ensuring you feel as comfortable as possible. As needed, your practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm).
Or you may prefer to talk about whatever is on your mind until you feel more relaxed. Ask your practitioner any questions you have or discuss your concerns, knowing that the strictest confidence will be observed.
Basically, you can just close your eyes, let your mind be still and not think about anything or anyone, drift off with the music and simply feel all your stress and tension melt away, letting the problems of the world fade into an hour of oblivion.

What Are the Main Benefits of Massage?
Massage is known as the healing power of touch, providing emotional and spiritual balance, with innumerable physical and mental benefits. It promotes deeper and more natural breathing patterns, realigns the entire body and stimulates all its systems. It can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, boost immune function, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, improve stamina and increase performance.
Think of the money you'll save not having to go to the doctors as often
and buying prescriptions. Clearly, the more massage you can allow yourself as preventative,
frequent therapy, the better you'll feel, more often.

Are There Any Medical Conditions That Would Make Massage Inadvisable?
Sensory Experience massages are therapeutic on a purely relaxational basis. We use non-invasive techniques to prompt the body to heal itself by reducing physical and mental stress, relaxing and loosening muscles and soft tissue. This is therefore a great preventive form of healthcare, easing aches and pains, improving posture, allowing greater range of movement and improved wellbeing.
If the condition of your health is seriously impaired and you're being treated by a medical practitioner, advise your massage therapist before you begin your session. Check if you need written recommendation for massage from your doctor. In natural partnership with medical treatment, regular massage is perfect to maintain your health & wellbeing - just ask your doctor. << Previous | Back to menu | Next >>
Massage is a non invasive technique used to stretch and loosen muscles. It acts as a prompt to the body to heal an area by activating the healing mechanism at the site of focus. It assists circulation and can bring nutrients to a site of injury and speed healing.
It is incredibly beneficial for a wide variety of conditions. For some people, pain is a part of every day life and massage can help to reduce this pain, giving a better standard of living. For people with conditions caused by lifestyle, poor posture, weight, poor fitness etc, massage can be the start of turning life around. It eases pain and therapists can provide advice on posture, fitness and the likely contributors to the pain being experienced.
Many people now have massage treatments as part of their normal healthcare program and as a result are more pain free, more flexible, have greater range of movement, are educated on posture, balance and how to keep the muscle network working to its optimum.
It's also a great way to feel good. I'm yet to meet a client who didn't feel better after a good massage treatment!
